Greetings!

 

My name is Kim Elzinga and I am a third grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School. I have been teaching for 18 years, with the last 8 years here at Jefferson. Prior to coming to Jefferson, I taught at Trinity Lutheran School and was a co-director of the preschool. I also taught in Boyne City and Holland, Michigan.   I obtained my degree from Central Michigan University and continued my graduate work through Western Michigan.

 

I have been teaching third grade for the past 4 years. Each day lends itself to new discoveries for the children as well as myself.  I enjoy opening their minds to new concepts and ideas and in turn they share this with others in their lives. I like to see them share strategies that they have discovered and help others to think of things in ways they never have before.  We have a lot of fun each day which makes coming to work a joy!

 

When I go home I am greeted by my husband, Al and our two boys Kyle, 18 and Kody, 16. Oh, I nearly forgot our new addition to the family, our dog Sierra. She is still a puppy which can be challenging at times!  We enjoy golfing, fishing and being outside together.  We are enjoying Kyle's senior year at MAPS.  He has had a great education here and is preparing to attend college in the fall.
