Mary Wahr attended The University of Michigan where she majored in graphic design and art education. She first taught in Australia for two years and then came to Manistee where she taught for three years before elementary art became the victim of a millage failure. Fortunately, she had already met Don, who was to become her husband. After nearly twenty years of working at Don's side in the hardware business and raising her sons, William and Theo, Mary returned to teaching. During the last nine years she has had three one man shows in Manistee, won an art award from the Muskegon Museum of Art and felt extremely fortunate to be back in the classroom.  She is currently working on her Masters of Art Education.  She finds it hard to believe that she gets paid for doing what she loves.
